Fred Whitton Cycle Sportive

One of the toughest cycling sportives in the UK taking in the infamous Hardknott Pass at 33% gradient and the Lakeland high passes over 112 miles. I did it in my usual solo style, grabbing a rucksack and doing the route in 9 hours.

Training for Expeditions

My approach to training has adapted continually but for expeditions I have focused on endurance road cycling, high intensity interval training (gym bikes and rowing machines), hiking, Scottish winter mountaineering and strength/conditioning training both at home and in the gym. I have also completed a number of road and trail races from 5k up to half marathon.
